Kinder Puppy Program

When you purchase a puppy from our program we offer two different training options for your new puppy. Our first option is our Local Kinder Puppy and our other option is Distance Kinder Puppy. Both in person & virtual classes are 30 minutes each. Due to puppies having a short attention span we like to keep sessions short so training will always remain fun.

 

Local Kinder Puppy program is available to those who live within San Luis Obispo County or Santa Barbara County You will get 2 weeks of basic obedience & 2 weeks of AKC STAR PUPPY class. When you feel confident in your puppy, I will test & evaluate your puppy for free. If your puppy passes the test items you will receive a ribbon and your paperwork you can put in the AKC website after you've registered your poodle. This is available for puppies 4-6 months old, whether they are service dog prospects, facility, therapy, ESA or pet homes. It's a great way to establish a trusting bond with your puppy. *Up to date shots will be required.*  

 

When you choose to use our Distance Kinder Puppy Program you will be able to schedule private virtual training lessons with the trainer for 5 weeks. We will go over basic manners and work through AKC STAR PUPPY test items to ensure you will have the help you need. Due to being out of our area the trainer will not be able to test and evaluate your puppy, which is compensated with an extra virtual dog training lesson. Since these are virtual classes you are welcome to schedule them at 9 weeks old. Any concerns or questions you might have will be available during the training sessions as well.

-Beginning of "Stay"

The AKC STAR PUPPY Program is 20 Test Items that include:

 

OWNER BEHAVIORS

1)  Shows proof puppy is in the care of a vet (exam and vaccines)

2)  Puppy appears healthy and active for breed

3)  Owner describes exercise plan 

4)  Attend at least 6 classes

5)  Owner brings bags to class for clean-up

6)  Owner has obtained some form of ID for puppy

PUPPY BEHAVIORS​​

7)  Free of aggression toward people

8)  Free of aggression toward other puppies

9)  Tolerates collar, harness, etc. (owner choice)

10)  Owner can hug or hold puppy

11)  Puppy allows owner to take away a treat or toy

PRE-CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST BEHAVIORS​​

12)  Allows petting by someone other than the owner

13)  Grooming

14)  Walks on a leash

15)  Walks by other people

16)  Sits on cue

17)  Down on cue 

18)  Comes to owner from 5 ft.

19)  Reaction to distractions

20)  Stay on leash
